Remember last year’s epic Urban Blast Festival? It’s back and will be hitting up Lagos’ landmark venue in Oniru, this Friday the 18th of December!
Nigeria’s biggest live concert of the year – a bash thrown annually by SPICE TV‘s sister station, Soundcity (DStv channel 257) – will host great artists on stage including Iyanya, Davido, Victoria Kimani, Olamide, Runtown, Sound Sultan and many more.
For those planning to go (though if you haven’t already got tickets, you can get one free by downloading the new Nairabox app, here for iOS or here for Android users), it’s vital to have an outfit planned – one that’ll turn heads all night.
And of course Team SPICE are on hand to help, with a few pointers on your festival wardrobe, with our tips taken from some of music’s biggest names…
1. Get Loose, Like Rih
Rihanna has been everywhere this year (into perfume, socks, trainers, sportswear, creative agencies, Barbados, NY, the studio – you name it) but she’s seldom been seen without a laid back yet sexy look, formed by her favourite: loose-fit pants.
Whether yours are sporty, denim, tailored or slouchy, do it like Rih with a pair of trousers that’ll allow you to kick back in comfort at the event.

2. Be About Your Body, Like Bey
Mega bae, Beyonce really hit her stride this year with her style, after – let’s face it – a few years of not always getting it right.
The beautiful talent has been seen embracing her curves with a plenty of figure-hugging ensembles and we suggest if that’s your thing, you do the same.
–
3. Go Gentlemanly, Like Jidenna
Ok so, canes and three-pieces suits may not seem the likely option for a festival, but Jidenna makes a great case for getting down in such get up while on stage.
Perhaps it’s just a pocket square, a shirt, waistcoat or pair of brogues? Whatever you add you’re sure to look like a ‘classic man’ because these sort of pieces stay classy and never go out of style.
–
4. Do a Cut Out, Like JLo
So one of the most bodied stars out there, Jennifer Lopez has her look down, and it’s always including a cutout.
Go plunging at the neck, gaping at the belly or with some strategic slits to the torso… Just do it like Jenny from the block.
–
5. Pump Up the Volume, Like Tonye
Singer Tonye Garrick knows how to make an entrance wherever she’s headed, and does so loudly, with her volumnous looks.
The showstopper goes for floor-lengthed hems or reams of fabric for her stylish wardrobe and what better way to get noticed than to do the same?
–
6. Embrace Elongated Legs, Like CiCi
So Ciara has made a bit of a comeback to the scene since having her first child and releasing a new album, and boy is her stylist killing it!
Playing to her strengths, Ciara is regularly seen in ensembles that lengthen or highlight her legs (thigh high boots, short shorts and slim pants), and if you too are blessed like that, we see no better option for you than to embrace it.
–
7. Go Bo-Fro, Like Asa
Festivals are also the place to do that boho, Afro babe thing, and no one has it down better than Asa.
The singer is known for her trademark frames, but also this folksy Bo’Fro vibe sent out via beaded necklaces, wide brim hats and fringing that we can’t get enough of.
–
8. Put on a Pair of Shades, Like Patorankin
Dancehall star, Patoranking is rarely seen without his shades, or his gold, and what better place to be seen in yours than at the Soundcity Blast Festival this Friday?
Throw yours on like he does with absolutely any ensemble – they’ll add that necessary cool and keep you looking smooth, even when you’re busy loosing yourself to the beat.
