With a showcase that will include the likes of Weiz Dhurm Franklyn (of Nigeria), Eki Orleans (of Nigeria and Germany), Gavin Rajah (of South Africa), McMeka (of Nigeria) and Morocco Caftan New York (of Morocco) to name a few, the platform has invited some of Africa’s best talents to reveal their Spring/Summer’15 collections during NY’s mainstream event, in a bid to challenge the lack of diversity typically seen during NYFW.
“To gain what is necessary for participating designers, we had to move the [event] to coincide with New York Fashion Week. All the participating designers are either from Africa or contributing to communities there while representing New York.”
