While Team SPICE are all about ‘Unity’ this month, Lagos-based exhibition space, Art Twenty One has launched a dynamic new group exhibition that combines art, fashion and design, via displays by designers Tokyo James and Bubu Ogisi, plus painters, photographers and other talents from the field of art and design.
The exhibition, titled “Platform” and located at Art Twenty One’s space at the Eko Hotel & Suites, was launched over the weekend and will run until January next year, with work work by Tokyo James, Tzar Studios, Iamisigo, Maxivivo, Yinka Ilori, Bolatito Aderemi-Ibitola, Chichi, Kadara Enyeasi, Chinenye Godsproperty John, John Madu, Obinna Makata, Malaika Najem, Oluseye Ogunlesi, Obiageli Okigbo, Lateef Olajumoke, Olumide Onadipe, Dennis Osadebe, Sadikou Oukpedjo, Ada Umeofia, Chibuike Uzoma and Yeanzi – spanning fashion, design, painting, sculpture, photography and more.
Artists were chosen for the group exhibition after Art Twnety One sent our an open call and received more than 100 applications in answer, with the team saying of the results;
“Conceived as a pop-up concept space, Platform bridges the gap between artists, designers, and makers to engage a more inclusive and participatory conversation, reflecting innovations and contemporary sensibilities in Africa today.”
The launch, held on December 12th, was attended by fashion, art and design industry talents and enthusiasts, with exhibitor Bubu Ogisi of Iamisigo posting this picture to Instagram, captioning;

Art Twenty One also posted pictures of the event, explaining;
“…Our anticipated exhibition that features #TwentyOneArtists cutting across painting, photography, sculpture, design, jewellery, collage, fashion, and books. An event not to be missed.”
The space comprises of 600sqm dedicated to solidifying “the growing art scene in Lagos, as well as position this great city as a major force in the international art world.”
With the new “Platform” exhibition open Tuesday to Friday from 10am til 6pm and Saturdays, 11pm til 7pm, we at SPICE suggest you head to Art Twenty One at some point over the Christmas holidays to soak up the spectacular creative display until the event ends on January 12th 2016.
