In a move sure to actually break the internet this time, Kimye – that’s Kanye West and his wife, Kim Kardashian-West – are seen starring in the new Spring/Summer’15 campaign for Balmain, titled “Army of Lovers.”
With the pair being besties with the brand’s creative director, Olivier Rousteing, the move almost comes as no surprise, but then again, it does seem an unlikely move to put two non-models a-front a campaign of this scale, no matter how upscale the stardom of the personalities involved.
The designer explained;
“For this campaign, I wanted to capture a moment of love. Kim and Kanye are style icons and friends. It is an honour to have them in this Balmain campaign.
Together, they represent love, beauty and diversity – they are the new modernity.
This is more than a campaign, it expresses something beyond clothes – it is a celebration of love and friendship. This is a new statement for Balmain.”
The duo are seen in the new set of ads, sharing a series of highly-styled moments; Kim is spied standing by her man throughout, with Kanye doing his best smize in several looks from the brand.
Having designed sneaker ranges for Nike and Adidas, as well as pieces for A.P.C and his own DW Kanye West label, this marks one giant step forward from Kanye West into the realm of fashion, but see the new Balmain campaign ads below and let us know how you feel about Mr and Mrs West joining the likes of Rihanna, Jourdan Dunn and Joan Smalls as brand ambassadors;
