Supermodel and super spirit, Liya Kebede has been putting more hard work into bettering the planet, combining her philantropist ways with affordable, sustainable fashion retailer Lindex, to front the Super Role Model tee campaign.
Starring as one of he three faces if the campaign alongside supers Christie Turlington and Toni Garm, Ethiopian model Ms Kebede models the tee, which will see 100% of proceeds from its sale going to her charity, the Liya Kebede Foundation (as well as two charities founded by her model colleagues), set up to help reduce numbers in maternal, newborn and child mortality worldwide.
The beauty – whose fashion label lemlem also has giving back at its heart, providing local artisans from her hometown of Addis Abbaba with jobs weaving chic, lightweight and stylish cotton garments – also shared with Lindex a little on her personal style, saying;
“When I think of boho style I think of Summer in California. It’s effortless cool with a little bit of romance. It’s all about mixing patterns to create a feminine, relaxed and sexy look.”
Liyal, who became the first black model to front an Estée Lauder beauty campaign in 2003, went on to describe her typical look as “casual, comfortable, cool,” adding;
“I think it is important to find your own personal style and not just follow trends. When fashion enhances who you are – then it’s empowering.”
