This week, while we’re thinking all things jet-set here at SPICE, we’re talking travel: time travel (via our Curvy TBT), looks to be caught in transit in, plus the piece to have while airport-hopping. See it all, below;
Curves vs.. Travelwear
Another new month, another new trend! And, since we’re thinking all things travel this month at SPICE, we’re concentrating on that all important holiday wardrobe.
Of course, it’s essential to pack the right clothes as much as it is to look your best on holiday, but another major part of the experience people sometimes overlook is airport wear: what to wear while jetting through the departures lounge, riding the plan and then sailing off to your home for the next few weeks or days…
As the best fashionistas know, you have to start as you mean to go on (especially since who knows who you might bump into at the airport), but here’s a cool look for any upcoming ventures you’ve planned.
Keeping your clothes light, with materials such as cotton and lace, and casual, with easy-stretch denim, you’ll easily travel through varying temperatures. Once you’ve got the base, adding splashes of colour will work great against the denim and don’t forget heels for a bit of glamour; comfy, block heels work best for wearing for longer periods of time. See the perfect airport look below!
Curvy #TBT: Gabi Gregg x Wilhelmina’s 2011 “Block Party’” Lookbook Shoot
We, like many others in the curvy fashion world, are big fans of blogger Gabi Gregg a.k.a GabiFresh and think she has done wonders in promoting the mantra: work your body to its best. Hence, this week’s Curvy TBT is collaboration between Gabi and Wilhelmina Models Curve division, which saw the blogger styling a few new faces for their 2011 Summer lookbooks.
Shot by photographer Elton Anderson, Gabi styled the models using bold and intense hues and chic neutral palettes as a preview for two leading trends. With pieces from ASOS Curve, Gisela Ramirez, Monif C. and Alexis Bittar, the looks Gabi created are timeless, pairing body-skimming luxe and loose-flowing options together for style that still looks good today.
We’d rock the oversized maxi and crop top combination as part of our jet-set wardrobe, easily!
Curvy Pick of the Week: Random Fashion’s African Floral Print Bomber Jacket
Yes, the bomber is back! Well, did it ever leave? Who cares – because it’s a great transitional piece to bridge between Summer and Autumn.
We’ve chosen this amazing printed version from Random Fashion – super cute worn with a pair of wedged trainers and, swapped between straight cut jeans or a flirty skater skirt, this jacket makes for the perfect, go-to travel piece too!
