While we’re beginning a month celebrating all things ‘Man’ at SPICE, controversial rapper-turned-designer, Kanye West has celebrating of his own to do, having just won at Footwear News’ Achievement Awards, receiving ‘Shoe of the Year’ for his Yeezys.
Created in collaboration with Adidas, the Yeezy Boosts were awarded the titled for their sheer grip on consumers and the demand they created, with the FN Achievement Awards saying by statement;

“This year’s ‘Shoe of the Year’ honour recognises the insatiable demand for all things Yeezy. The sneaker releases dominated the market in 2015 as demand for the product crashed servers, sparked extraordinary resale value and created a need for mob control in stores.
From the moment Kanye West unveiled the 750 high-tops on the Grammys, his Adidas sneakers have been the most-coveted, most-talked-about, most-recognised shoes this year.”
Joining top designers like Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik who have also been recognised at FN’s awards, it looks like Kanye is fast on his way to reaching his dreams of becoming an established fashion designer, despite industry criticism he’s received so far.
