While we’re thinking about ‘Flower Power’ this month, Nigerian designer Deola Sagoe has been busy using it as the backdrop to the lookbook for her Spring/Summer’15 collection, “Wings.”
Shot by Lakin Ogunbanwo against green fauna with fluffy flowers, the range is fronted by former Miss South Africa (2007), Tansey Sodeinde and model/presenter Zainab Balogun, who are spied wearing delicately shaped gowns with Deola’s signature quirky cut-outs – all inspired by a class project belonging to her youngest daughter.
The talent explained that;
“Developing my own fabrics is essential for me. Every time you do it, it’s fresh; the drawings, the process of making Adire, starting with indigo and then just making music with colour and patterns, “fabric jazz.”
I wanted to play with floaty fabrics this time. It was just my mood. Of course I’m still in the throws of my love affair with Aso Oke which is still a huge feature in this collection.“
