The holiday just got better. We are all about all things good news this Easter. Clearly dark skin women have been winning from the beginning of the year. Let’s not forget that this year has also been the year of so many firsts.
Maria Borges, Angolan model has just become the second black woman to grace the cover of Elle. The first woman being, Sudanese model, Alek Wek two decades ago in 1997. Borges is notable for rocking her natural hair at a top fashion show. She is also the new face of L’Oréal Paris. 24 year old Luanda and 5 other models are set to grace the cover of the May issue of the magazine.
She took to her twitter page to show appreciation to those who have shown her support as she dropped a picture of the much anticipated cover.
“Honored to be the First African Woman of the Century to be on the cover of Elle USA. Thank you everyone for your support”
We will like to congratulate Maria Borges on this big one, and thank her for being a role model to so many young girls who aspire to be like her.
