Portuguese designers Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida of Marques’ Almeida have been busy wow-ing the fashpack for a while now, most notably with their covetable range of distressed denim that’s destined for this season. Now though, their upcoming range with highstreet giants Topshop has everyone talking, with the collection set to launch next week, bringing their touch of cool to a wider range of closets.
With the duo (who joined forces in 2009 after individual stints at Vivienne Westwood and Preen) defining their aesthetic as “raw, young, effortless and lived-in,” followers of the label could only hope more of the brilliant same – but product shots that have just been revealed show what’s coming is actually one of the best highstreet collaborations to hit rails in a while.
Long leather macs and wide-legged trousers are combined with pop brights like lime, orange and aqua blue, while standout pieces include other ’90s staples like bucket hats, mules and sheer vests, modernised by of-the-moment faux fur in punchy hues.
The brand’s personal staple piece – the oversized, distressed denim T-shirt with heavily frayed edges – also makes an appearance, with a cool dress version also included in the lineup, which we at SPICE reckon should sell out in moments.
The designers told Vogue of the collaboration;
“It was an incredible process. We felt very grateful to be able to work with everyone at Topshop and mostly Kate Phelan for being incredibly encouraging and inspiring and trusting us with this huge task. It meant we could learn so much from them and it will also mean that more people will hear about Marques’ Almeida and we will be able to reach places we couldn’t have done any other way.”
With more than 50 fabulous pieces to choose from, you’d best be at the ready for when Marques’ Almeida’s new range launches on Thursday 9th of October, on Topshop.com, because its pieces just will not wait.
