Ghanaian tailoring talent, Ozwald Boateng has announced a collaboration with Nike, showing off their combined efforts on the new Nike N98, designed for Brazil’s national football team.
Mr Boateng used the classic N98 track jacket as his inspiration, “remixing it” with his signature Savile Row techniques and smooth aesthetic to create a high fashion set with performance and movement in mind.
Made of a lightweight wool, chosen specifically to compete with the warm climate of Brazil, the suit bares classic tracksuit-style cuffs around the sleeves and trouser-ankles, as well as a matching elastic waistband – but a traditional tailored lapel and front-fastening put the smarts back into the ensemble.
The word “BRASIL” is embroidered on the back of the jacket, the front bares the team’s crest and the side is lined by a sporty stripe, but the cut and feel of the resulting two-piece has Ozwald written all over it, with the designer announcing it via Twitter last night;
We at SPICE love this mash up of sports and smarts and look forward to seeing the Brazilan team don their suit during the 2014 World Cup.
