Multi-talent Pharrell Williams has been revealed as having collaborated in the design process of Chanel’s “Métiers d’art’16” collection, which showcased last December in Rome.
Following recent announcement that Rihanna has designed a range for Dior, in a press release explaining their collaboration, Chanel wrote that Williams;
“…Spent a day with the craftsmen whose expertise and skill are unique to the Métiers d’art of Chanel.
Through the exceptional work of the embroiderer Lesage, the feathers and flowers maker Lemarié, the pleater Lognon, the shoe maker Massaro and the hat maker Maison Michel, Pharrell Williams was able to plunge to the very heart of their creative processes and take part in the creation of these unique pieces from the Métiers d’art Paris in Rome 2015/16 collection.”
Pharrell has had a long relationship with Chanel, having starred in the fashion house’s “Paris-Salzburg’15” collection campaign last year alongside Cara Delevigne, and starring in creative director Karl Lagerfeld’s short 2014 film Reincarnation, too.
Though it’s not clear exactly how the producer and artist, who’s co-owner of G-Star Raw and a recent collaborator of Adidas, has made input to Chanel’s range, the pieces will be available to buy in June at selected boutiques.
