With one of fashion’s biggest nights set to take place this June, the CFDA Awards, nominations and announcements on this year’s winners have been piling in since last week, and sports-chic enthusiast, Mr Pharrell Williams has just been named as the 2015 recipient of the coveted ‘Fashion Icon of the Year’ award.
With the music mogul having lept into the industry through numerous ventures, including his design collaborations with Uniqlo and Adidas Originals, and his fashion film with Cara Delevingne for Chanel (see that here), we’re not wholly suprised to find out Pharrell was on the CFDA’s radar, as he’s been on ours for quite some time.
Diane Von Furstenberg, designer and President of the CFDA, said;
“If cool was a person, it would be Pharrell, not just for his looks and sense of style but for his kindness and openness. I cannot imagine anyone not seduced by him.”
But, with his signature casual style spied at many high profile events, often consisting of denim and/or a pair of shorts, we’ll be keen to see what the artist and producer wears on the night – though with last year’s winner, Rihanna showing up in a see-through gown by Adam Selman (remind yourself here), we expect whatever Pharrell dons on the red carpet at this year’s glamorous CFDAs to be considerably causal in comparison.
