First it was Christopher Kane who decided to revamp what used to be a fashion nightmare into something purchase worthy by fashion lovers. He changed the eyes of the world towards Crocs during his Spring 2016 show, where he unveiled the collection from his collaboration with the shoe brand.
Now it’s 2017 at the Paris Fashion week and another top luxury fashion brand has taken a slice of the revamped Croc cake. This time adding an extra feature, Heels.
You read right. During their Sunday show, Balenciaga models walked the runway in high platform Crocs. The fashion brand has collaborated with Crocs to give consumers what they named “The Foam”, which is basically platform Crocs. The shoe is a part of Balencia’s SS 18 collection and it will be up for grabs at $34.99.
“It’s a very innovative shoe. It’s light, it’s a one-piece foam mould and to me these kind of techniques and working with these kind of materials is very Balenciaga,” Says Balenciaga artistic director Demna Gavasalia, on the inspiration behind the shoes.
Just like the Kane Crocs, the reactions of fans on social media were mixed. Some accused the brand of taking regular staples and selling at higher prices, while some expressed their excitement about the shoes.
We think Crocs in platform heels aren’t totally a bad idea. But we don’t know if it will become a Spice Hot or Not.
