As we draw closer to the end of 2015, Team SPICE are looking back on the year and the stylish stars who made it one to remember.
Below are just some of the stars we unanimously agreed made 2015 in terms of style, from Beyonce and Blue’s twintastic looks, to our favourite homegrown babes who consistently slayed with their fashion sense.
Take a look and tell us how our list compares to yours.
Yemi Alade
Is 2016 going to be the year of Yemi Alade? All sources from 2015 point to yes.
This songstress has really grown over the last 365 days and has taken the Nigerian fashion industry by storm – not just by bagging the award for ‘Most Stylish Female Celebrity’ at African Fashion Week Nigeria, but by becoming launching her Yemi Alade Collection of jewels, proving herself to be a style star in her own right.
We can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeves for next year.
Rita Dominic
Whenever Rita Dominic hits the red carpet, all eyes are on her, as her arresting looks compliment pretty much anything she wears.
But this actress knows how to wear everything well, whatever the occasion – from her regal look at the 2015 AMVCAs to the polarising look at the opening of AFRIFF. It’s always refreshing to see a star with the balls to step off Nollywood’s formulaic and sometimes tepid red carpet style standards and we are grateful for Rita’s wardrobe throughout 2015.

Lupita Nyong’o
It’s been two years since we (and the rest of the world) started our love affair with this Academy Award winner called Lupita Nyong’o, but her winning streak continues as she manages to seize Hollywood’s spotlight time and again.
This year she made such a venture look like the easiest and chicest thing in the world, and if her 2015 red carpet appearances are anything to go by, she will remain a hot commodity at events in 2016.
–
Kim Kardashian
Love her or hate her, there’s a reason Kim Kardashian-West continues to top style lists year after year, and 2015 was no different.
You can put it down to her figure or her stylists, but whether you admit it or not, Kim influences fashion around the world, period – and with designer friends like Karl Lagerfeld, Natalia Alaverdian, Olivier Rousteing and more on speed dial, and a husband who likes to give her wardrobe a refresh every now and again, you bet she will be on the list of stylish stars for 2016, too.

North West
Truly Kardashian, little Miss North West is already dominating headlines and tabloids, and has done so all year round thanks to her amazing outfits.
It’s easy to forget that she’s a 2-year-old, with designer labels making up her wardrobe and both her mum Kim, and dad Kanye West styling her up like their mini-me.
From her fashion week debut to her post-ballet class outfits, North continues to keep our attention with ostentatious outfits and she has been a huge source of fashion inspiration throughout 2015.

Mercy Aigbe
A certified fashionista, Mercy Aigbe always has tongues wagging on the red carpet and for good reason – 2015 providing proof.
The award-winning Nollywood actress popped up at all major events this year and looked great at every occasion, but most importantly, the stylish star consistently revamped her style and fed our thirst for seeing her fashion sense in the future.
–
Toke Makinwa
Celebrity TV host, Toke Makinwa has been walking red carpets in Nigeria for years now, and will certainly be doing so for years to come, judging by the 2015 she’s had.
Despite dramas with her husband and the media, mid year, the stylish star proved that while she may need fill in the gaps in order to shake off the many rumours out there, there is definitely zero blank spaces when it comes to her wardrobe. Ms Makinwa was certainly seen on all the important red carpets this year and nailed every one with her ensemble look, so even if her ears are burning, the girl’s wardrobe is on fire!
–
Beyonce & Blue – As a Duo
An inspiration to millions of style seekers, Queen Bey and her daughter with Jay Z, Blue Ivy make a power fashion duo that clubs sophistication, sassiness and practicality together with ease.
While Blue still has a good decade before she starts strutting the red carpet alongside her mother, we already know it will be spectacular when it happens, simply because of the amazing twin-tastic looks they pulled out in 2015.
Showing off major twinning stunts and whetting our appetite for what is to come, their mother-daughter style remained as on-point as Bey is on beat, proving the duo exudes not just charisma, but the power of two – in true fashion.
–
Zainab Balogun
A much more confident Zainab Balogun emerged in 2015, and nowhere was this more evident than on the red carpet.
The actress, presenter and model seemed to able to bring a touch of sexiness to her looks while maintaining a newfound sophistication, and she has totally bypassed all awkward newbie moments and settled straight into her limelight like a pro.
How could she not make this list of stylish stars for 2015?
–
Kerry Washington
OK, so Kerry Washington can look exquisite in just about anything and this year, we weren’t short of the proof.
No doubt one of the ladies who took 2015 in terms of TV and acting, Ms Washington also took the title when it comes to style, with the Hollywood star getting more gorgeous and stylish as the year drew on.
We’ve been just as thrilled to see her on the red carpets throughout 2015 as we are to see the mother of one rock 2016’s.
–
Lisa Folawiyo
Currently wearing the title of ‘print queen’ and ‘selfie queen’ simultaneously, with her regular outfit updates on social media, womenswear designer Lisa Folawiyo is effortlessly classy as never fails to make heads turn with her impeccable sartorial choices.
Known to rock designer labels from head-to-toe, she always gets it right and as well as seeming to come down with a case of the Benjamin Buttons (is it us or does she just get younger and younger?!), this ace designer stayed flawless all through 2015.
–
Ciara
With a body and a face as stunning as Ciara’s, it’s easy to make any ensemble look amazing enough to get jaws dropping.
Whether attending an awards show, stepping out to shop or having a date night over at the White House, the singer had all eyes on her and her outfits all year long, using her wardrobe to almost reinvent herself after birthing her son.
Aside from stunning looks, CiCi also knows how to rock the red carpet without going too wild and straying into OTT territory, which is typical of stars returning to the limelight. With every look Ciara pulled out in 2015, she certainly showed us she was back and here to slay!
–
Janelle Monae
This singer continued to catch our eye this year with her quirky, monochrome and red palette-d dress sense.
2015 through Janelle’s wardrobe showed us that hats, capes and eclectic menswear pieces are bound to remain staples in her world, and although her style is very original as well as a little predictable, Ms Monae has made quite the impression with fashion critics. Thus, we can’t wait to see her red carpet style evolve in 2016.
–
Bubu Ogisi
The ultimate cool girl on the Lagos scene, stylist and designer Bubu Ogisi continues to impress with her minimal and modern style.
Never afraid to break tried and true style rules, this is one talent whose wardrobe we loved to watch out for. And she certainly set some trends left right and center during 2015 with the things she pulled together.
–
Zendaya Coleman
From the dreadlocks at the centre of all that controversy at the 2015 Oscar Awards, to getting her own Barbie and unveiling her wax figure at Madam Tussads, this year has been the year of Zedanya – and we’ve been happy about that fact because she has a wardrobe worthy of all her achievements.
One of Time’s list of Most Influential Teens in 2015, the TV star and singer always manages to infuse her signature urban and youthful vibe into looks for even the most strict event dress codes, and she did score the attention of style mavens everywhere after rocking red carpets in some of the most stunning outfits.
Following her newly revealed “Be Yourself” spread in Vogue Magazine’s January’16 edition, Zedanya is also already taking 2016, too.
–
Juliet Ibrahim
Ghanaian actress and film producer, often referred to Africa’s Kim Kardashian, Juliet Ibrahim upped the ante this year with exciting fashion choices and daring beauty looks.
Her striking looks compliment pretty much anything she wears and throughout 2015, the star was spotted in gorgeous ensembles and proven that she knows how to wear everything well, whatever the occasion.
Another chic style we can’t wait to watch in 2016.
–
Joselyn Dumas
If you were keeping a keen eye on award-winning, Ghanaian actress Joselyn Dumas’ Instagram, you will have noted that she doesn’t play when it comes to putting on clothes.
The beauty is know to accentuate her figure in flattering silhouettes, switches her hair up regularly and seems to have a thing for shades. In short, she’s an inspiration.
–
Solange
Actress, DJ, mother and sibling to megastar Beyonce, Solange is a style icon who has since been making waves in the fashion industry with her quirky, covetable looks for a few years now.
But all the way through 2015, we saw her rocking her signature artsy ensembles, formed of bold colours, big hair, and beautiful ethnic-inspired prints – all with sublime sophistication and effortlessness.
We certainly have her pinned down as inspiration for style next year too.
–
Temi Dollface
Singer, songwriter, composer, performer and producer, Temi Phil-Ebosie – better known as Temi Dollface – has mastered pulling off a quirky and unique look; one’s where hats and vintage wear play a key role.
While we haven’t seen her on quite as many red carpets this year, the low key events she’s shown up at have proved that her sense of dress is worthy noting. And watching out for in 2016 too.
–
Rihanna
And last but by no means least, we come to this Barbadian bombshell, who left us awestruck so many times this year, it is getting difficult to keep count.
Rihanna can literally wear anything and does just that, by embracing all and every trend out there, but the spectacular part is that she always completely nails it, no matter how risqué the look is.
Rih made huge fashion statements all through 2015, especially on the red carpet, and we can not wait to see what risky ensembles she dons in the coming year because, truth be told, it’s partly why we love her so much.
