2014 and 2015 fashion trends are the current talk of most towns as designers continue to showcase their new collections for eager audiences around the globe. And, while we are busy joining in the celebration of fashion here at SPICE, we note that some fashion trends are much shorter-lived than others, like the classic, stay-put trend of the business suit.
And, while the luxe, tailored two-piece ensemble was once only the look for work, it’s now a thing of sophistication for many types of events, with many designers putting their own spin on the suit and satisfying a range of tastes.
You’ve got to admit, there’s nothing better than an outfit that can take you from Monday to Sunday with just a change of shoe, and we at SPICE have been spying how some of our favourite celebrities have worn theirs outside of work, too. Here’s how they wore theirs, below;
Swiss-born American actress and singer, Kat Graham attended the 4th Critic’s Choice Television Awards in LA looking exceptionally gorgeous, in a navy blue Escada Pre-Fall’14 suit. The Vampire Diaries star rocked the brand’s embellished two-piece with silver Brian Atwood “Besame” pumps and an Emm Kuo “Stingray” clutch, resulting in an on-trend, unforgettable look. We just love all these pieces and how they look together!
Over in South Africa, media personality Bonang Matheba was suited up last month for the Glamour SA Women of the Year Awards. The beauty, who shared her outfit with her fans via Instagram, wore a sweet pink suit consisting of a bralet, tailored, flared trousers and a blazer by South African designer Gert-Johan Coetzee. Thumbs up for this pretty in pink, bubblegum-hued look!
Lastly, Disney star-turned singer, Zendaya Coleman posed at the 5th Annual Women in Music Awards in Hollywood earlier this year, sporting a plaid suit by renowned British designer, Vivienne Westwood. The former fashion model was nothing short of cool and chic as she jazzed up her ensemble with a bowler hat, large hoop earrings, heeled sandals and a large clutch. 10/10, obviously.
So, are you wishing to get suited up this weekend? If so, shop our top five designer picks, below;
Strut your stuff like Victoria Beckham in this sharply-cut, cream wool blazer with matching slim-line trousers from the star’s prestigious clothing line. Wear yours with heels and a tucked in blouse for a fresh, elegant look.
Sport this well-tailored, navy Stella McCartney suit with padded shoulders and ankle length trousers for a look that looks the business. A great option for your weekend and as well as your working week, this ensemble will look great with pointed pumps and a silk shirt of your choosing.
Dare to be bold and showcase your colourful side in this beautiful green blazer with front flap pockets and matching slim fit trousers – all crafted by Italian designer, Emilio Pucci. Wear this suit with minimal accessories in order to let it really steal the show.
Every female needs a quality black suit in her wardrobe, and this one from Ted Baker ticks all the boxes. The tailored two-piece features a single button blazer and ankle length trousers that are truly, flawlessly cut. Also, the inside lining consists of a colourful floral print that will make you fall in love with it while putting it on. #Gorgeous.
If you don’t want to wear a plain black suit but still feel black needs to feature, opt for these awesome printed separates by Peter Pilotto and rock them together like a suit. The blazer has a floral print whilst the trousers boast a geometric pattern – however, together they scream “fashion” and if you wear it, yoll turn heads. We promise.
On that note, have a trendy weekend ahead guys! And don’t forget to show us your outfits on Twitter and Instagram using @SPICETVAFRICA and the hashtags #WeekendWardrobe and/or #Suit.
