On International Womens Day 2016, Chanel announced that the rebelliously-styled star, Willow Smith will take up the role of ambassador of their brand, making her both the youngest face ever to front the brand.
The 15-year-old daughter of Will and Jada Smith was spied front row at Chanel’s “Front Row Only” Autumn/Winter’16 showcase in Paris yesterday, wearing a head-to-toe look from the label, that she described as “Chanel ninja” – the beauty proving how brilliant a decision the label made in opting for her to be their new face, by donning a cool electric blue eyeliner with short dreadlocks.READ MORE: 12 WOMEN WITH REAL STYLE INDEPENDENCE
Willow, who joined Kendall Jenner’s modelling agency last year, posted an announcement of her new role to Instagram, saying;
“Thank you Karl Lagerfeld and the entire team at Chanel for expanding the perceptions of “beauty” by picking me to be the new Chanel ambassador. I am honoured. #BLACKGIRLMAGIC“
Chanel said in their official announcement;
“The young singer, songwriter, actress and trendsetter has been wearing Chanel for public appearances since 2013 and her first encounter with Karl Lagerfeld was in 2014 when he photographed her for the American magazine V.”
Though Chanel points out the various ways they’ve interacted previously with the star, fashion seems to be in the youngest Smiths’ blood, with Willow having perviously starred in Marc Jacobs’ Autumn/Winter’15 campaign, and her brother Jaden also making history with his feature in Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer’16 womenswear campaign, wherein he bent rules by wearing a skirt.READ MORE: JADEN SMITH STARS IN LOUIS VUITTON’S SS’16 WOMENSWEAR CAMPAIGN!
