5th Lagos Fashion & Design Week Announces Dates & New Sponsor

The fifth edition of Nigeria’s premiere Fashion Week event, Lagos Fashion and Design Week has just announced its dates and a brand new sponsor.

While previous partnerships have included GT Bank and MTN, the platform will this year work with Heineken on the event, which will take place between 28th and 31st of October, to bring the best of design to Nigeria as well as international press and buyers to the scene, shining a light on the country’s talent.

Founder of the LFDW, Omoyemi Akerele, who also founded popular creative agency Style House Files, said of the platform;

“At the heart of the Lagos Fashion and Design Week platform is the fundamental vision to position Lagos as a global destination for Africa’s finest fashion design talents.

Through LFDW, they present their collections, grow their fashion businesses and contribute to the sustainability of Nigeria’s Creative Economy.“

Previous editions of the Fashion Week have seen talents like Orange Culture and Iconic Invanity take to the runway, and last year’s Fashion Focus winner, T.I Nathan was later invited to showcase at the International Festival during London Fashion Week – an event held in a collaboration between British Fashion Council and the British Council – alongside fellow Nigerian labels Orange Culture, IAMISIGO, Grey and Kenneth Ize, who exhibited under Yegwa Ukpo’s curation (more on that, here) and saw Ukpo winning an award.
