A$AP Rocky Collaborates on Collection with J.W Anderson

Rapper A$AP Rocky has just been announced as a collaborator of British brand J.W Anderson, creating a new line of urban-inspired men’s and womenswear for Autumn/Winter’16.

Speaking to Vogue of the range, the 27-year-old said he met the brand’s creative director;

“…Through friends. And the admiration just built up to where it just got to that point. You know when you have creative people just sitting around and like reluctant to work just for the sake of being cliche or predictable? Some people just wanna be friends. But we got to a point where we were, okay, let’s just put something out – let’s collaborate.”

The successful musician has had quite a career in fashion so far, having created a collection with Guess this year, modelled by Naomi Campbell. He’s also modelled himself for Vogue, starring in an editorial alongside Chanel Iman, and has just been announced as the new face of Dior Homme’s Autumn/Winter’16 collection.

The pieces from the J.W Anderson line, dubbed the “JWA x AWGE Collection” include beanies, chokers, sweatpants and zip-up jackets – plus the showpiece: a fluffy teddy jacket with popper fastenings. Most are embroidered with the AWGE logo, which A$AP designed himself, telling The New York Times it represents;

“…A collective of creatives that come from multiple disciplines including visual arts, fashion, and music. No one needs to know what the letters stand for. We know what it is, and that’s how we want to keep it.”

The men’s and womenwear line can be shopped here, with prices staring at £180 (that’s for a beanie hat!) ranging upwards to £850 for jackets.
