Rapper A$AP Rocky has just been surprise-announced as the new face of Dior, joining three others to front the French label’s Autumn/Winter’16 collection.
The foursome includes top creatives like film director Larry Clark, of 1995’s acclaimed film Kids, actor Rod Paradot and model Dylan Roques, leaving A$AP the most unexpected candidate, despite his dealings so far in the industry – the “Fashion Killa” star having designed a capsule collection with Guess and just last week revealing a collection with J.W Anderson.
Rocky is not the first ‘musical surprise’ from Dior of late, with Rihanna just announced as having made history with the brand, designing and starring as the face of Dior’s new eyewear collection too. But in the case of Rocky, who’s seen working a red trench among his shots for the label, the collaboration has gone down well, with the industry left excited by the news, revealed last night.

Dior’s creative director, Kris Van Assche is said to have been inspired by the four new faces’ talents and rebelliousness – Van Assche apparently also aiming to show “diversity within a single point of view.”
In an official statement, Dior said that A$AP;
“…Embodies the empowered masculinity of today’s urban dandy.”
