Launched in 2013, the first African-inspired fashion show in New Zealand – Africa on My Sleeves – has just announced the opening of its designer registrations for its 2014 event, as well as the introduction of two key initiatives that will further facilitate a gateway for designers to the international fashion realm.
While the main initiative is the annual fashion show which will provide the opportunity for designers to showcase and promote themselves on a credible platform, attracting buyers and media attention, this year, there will also be a preview of the designs, which will be available to view online ahead of the event.
The second initiative is an online store, through which items showcased with be available for purchase off the runway. With all items for sale being collaboratively owned by Africa on My Sleeve and the designer, the e-store’s purpose is to help grow the businesses and brands of participating designers.
While the project predominately caters to designers in Australasia, those based outside of the region are welcome to enter.
