Beauty Trend: Nail Art

Whoever said nail art was a fleeting fad had no foresight of 2014, as the trend is going stronger still. And, with both the catwalks and the red carpets serving their fair share of the trend, we at SPICE are stuck for choice for our favourite style so far.

We’ve seen trendy tips from the likes of Rita Ora, Paris Hilton, Madonna and other stars on the carpet, and even actress of the moment, Lupita Nyongo’o has been sharing her love of nail art online (just check out her Instagram to see her personal nail art endeavours).

And on the catwalks, there’s even more cool nail creations going on – like this amazing tweed set that models were seen in at ICB by Prabal Gurung…

Along with the heavy smokey winged liner their models rocked for their fall’14 show, Libertine Clothing sent these gorgeous, black, bling-ed nails down the runway, which beautifully complimented their collection of embellished coats at NYFW.

Below is how to recreate the look with Butter London’s nail lacquers:

  1. Apply “The Black Knight” nail polish to the tips of your nails.
  2. Apply “Diamond Geezer” at the base to meet up with the black at the tips.
  3. Then use a black, white and silver chunky glitter overcoat, like “Stardust”, over the entire nail.
  4. While the nails are still wet, apply a holographic, diamond-shaped glitter to the tip of the nails.

Et voila! Gorgeous bling-ed nails are yours to rock the night away with. You can also check out our weekly Tip of the Week for more nail art styles to try…
