Is orange the new red? Maybe not, but orange is fast making its way to the fore as one of the biggest trends for spring/summer’14.
And it’s not just on the streets we’re seeing the shade, as it’s been spied on all the best catwalks too – from Rag & Bone’s, which featured moisturised orange lips…
…to Prabal Gurung, where matte orange pouts were the highlight…
Helping you get a heads up on the trend, here are two orange pout-making products that will deliver either a matte or creamy finish: NYX’s Matte Lipstick in ‘Indie Flick‘ ($5.90) and Makeup Forever’s Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick in shade #40, ($20).
NYX’s bright orange has a beautiful matte finish that doesn’t dry the lips, but instead applies a creamy, shine finish. To apply this, we recommend using on a well-moisturised pout, with direct application from the tube via a careful and steady hand.
Makeup Forever’s product is a very creamy lipstick, but notorious for feathering, this lipstick needs an accompanying lipliner to define and fill in the pout before use. Also, a lip brush comes in handy for this lipstick as it will ensure a smooth, even coverage.
