Beauty Trend: Smokey Eyes

The smokey eye is one look that will never go away, and for Spring/Summer’14 it’s back as one of the biggest trends.

With the streets, catwalks and celebrities into the look, we’d be silly not to follow suit – plus there are so many ways to wear it. Beyonce and Alicia Keys for example, rocked different versions on the red carpet of the Grammys – Beyonce choosing a dark brown, paired with rustic red lips and Alicia opting to use shadow on just the outer half of her lid and pairing the look with subtle nude lips.

Whichever version you prefer, both smoky eyed looks are pretty easy to achieve, especially with these two key products  – Bobbi Brown’s eyeshadows in “Hot Stone” ($37.99) and “Shell” ($39.98).

To get a look like Bey’s, use a dense shading brush to apply “Hot Stone” around the rim of the eyes and then smudge with a dense crease brush.  Lastly, fade out the edges using “Shell”.

For Alicia’s smoky eye look, use a flat shading brush to apply “Shell” all over the eyelid. Then, take a crease brush and apply “Hot Stone” in the outer corner of the eyelids, blending properly to blur out the edges , working upwards and outwards.

And there you have it – your pick of two simple, gorgeous smokey eyed looks to try, which you can rock anywhere from the red carpet to the office. Enjoy!
