Beauty Trend to Try: Orange Lips like Lupita, Solange & Fashion’s Catwalk Stars

Yes, we know, you can’t wait for the third season of Orange is the New Black to be out in 2015. But in the meantime, why not try out this season’s hot new trend, featuring the bright and bold orange shade?

Orange lips are on the up, climbing over the classic red to take the top spot on lips at all the best Spring/Summer’14 runways. The warm shade was spied on models at Rag & Bone and Prabal Gurung, amongst others, where it appeared in a variety of guises – from matte and creamy to glossy, proving you just can’t go wrong;

And we are glad to say that this trend isn’t just for the catwalk, as some of our favourite celebs have been seen strutting the red carpets with an orange pout, too;

As always, like you, even we at SPICE can’t wait to try on the trend – hence we’ve scoured beauty shelves everywhere to find a few of the best oragen lipsticks out there.

If you want to go matte (Solange style), try this bright orange lippie from Make Up For Ever: their Lacquered Transparent Lipstick in  shade #407, “Pearly Fluorescent Orange” ($19). Or, should you be seeking something sheer to hint at the trend, try an orange-tinted lip balm (Lupita style), like Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in “Rendezvous” ($9.49).

 How to Wear It:

  • For a brilliant orange pout, make sure lips are supple and moisturised.
  • Next, apply your desired lipstick straight from the tube onto the lips, filling out lips and making sure to leave the edges defined.
  • Once the ‘colouring in’ process is complete, finish lips with a “smack.”

Or

  • For a tinted look, simply apply your lip product with your fingertips, dabbing lightly on the lips until a faint stain is achieved.

Et voila! You’re trendy – now go paint the town red… Or, orange, rather.
