Beauty Trend to Try: Peacock Blue

While we marvel at the many makeup trends coming from this season’s runways, we at SPICE must admit that blue is having more than a moment, working its way from fashion to reality, and appearing on red carpets and beauty collections for spring/summer.

On the runway, a hint of blue on the eyes were seen at Versace Couture Beauty’s show, where Pat McGrath gave models perfect skin, long lashes, bronze and gold smokey eyes, and a hint of peacock blue in their inner corners.

Then there was the full blue lids worn at Marc by Marc Jacobs’ Spring/Summer’14 show, which popped along the runway and onto our must-try lists for the season…

And on the red carpet, of course Lupita Nyong’o was spied rocking the trend first, sporting a swatch of bright blue from her inner corners to mid-lids, for the 2014 SAG Awards.

But it needn’t be left to the pros, as the blue eyeshadow trend is super easy to trial and can be achieved in a variety of ways; the easiest being to create a smokey eye (in the same way you usually would) before taking a bright blue eyeliner and carefully applying it in the small lid space that appears when your eyes are open, just along the lash line.

The aim is to have a bit blue peeking out while the eyes are open or closed – just a pop of peacock blue to put some ‘oomph’ into your beauty look.

Our favourite products to use for this trend are the Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Liner in ‘Radium‘ ($19) and the NYX Slide On Eyeliner in ‘Sunrise Blue‘ ($5.60). Try them and show those eyes off like a peacock, using the hash tag #SPICETV and #BeautyTrend.
