#BeautySpot: Lupita Nyong’o’s Decorative ‘Fronut’

The ever-gorgeous and elegant Lupita Nyong’o stepped out to the opening ceremony and premiere of La Tete Haute (“Standing Tall”) at the 68th annual Cannes Film Festival last week, and stole our hearts as she did with her outfit.

The current Lancome ambassador and Oscar winner slayed the red carpet with her one-of-a kind Gucci gown and mini caplet, but it was her double-strand, diamond head band and perfect high bun that nailed the beauty side of her look, complimented by a glossy purple-pink lotus lip that truly popped against her complexion.

The well-coiffed “Fronut,” as it’s being referred to online, made Ms Nyong’o the belle of the ball and made her landed her the place as our Beauty Spot of the Week – but we were even more excited by the look when the star revealed on Instagram that the updo was inspired by women of Uganda, Lupita captioning;

“Thank you @Chopard @Gucci and Uganda’s women for the hair inspiration. #NseneneSeason #cannes2015.”

The hairstylist responsible for the latest breaking of the internet, Vernon François told Refinery29;

“I am passionate about demonstrating what is possible to create with natural, Afro-textured hair. It isn’t about ’new’ trends; I want to showcase to women of colour all over the world how versatile their hair is by exposing them to hairstyles from different cultures.

Traditional looks can and should be just as show-stopping on the high street as they are on the red carpet.”

Want to steal some of Lupita’s borrowed style? Groom your hair into the bun we gave a step-by-step for here, using a glorifying serum or shine cream to give a sheen to the style.

Lastly, decorate your finished ‘do with an ornate headband for red carpet-levels of chic – our favourite being this 22 karat gold and moonstone band by Munnu, £14,540 here.
