While most girls would cringe at the thought of taking a selfie sans makeup, and sharing it on social media, supermodel Oluchi Orlandi has no struggle – proving the fact with her makeup-free selfie spied on Instagram this week.
The pic, which lands the Nigerian stunner at the top of our pie for Beauty Spot of the week, has left us at SPICE totally obsessed with the fresh-faced policy that seems to be sweeping the stars – with singer Alicia Keys even creating a whole campaign around it.
But while Ms Keys’ campaign didn’t go down so well with everybody, Oluchi and her sleek hair, full brows and flawless skin drew tons of compliments from her fans, with users posting;

Want to take the lead of “Mrs no makeup Gorgeous” (as another follower commented under the pic)? Well, so long as you take care of your skin, the look will take little-to-no-time to achieve. Here’s how;
- First, wash your face with a cleanser like Neutrogena’s “Visibly Clear Gentle Exfoliating Wash” (₦ 4,500, here), to gently cleanse and smooth the skin on your face. If you go too harsh on exfoliation or cleansing, your skin will go overactive in producing oil – not a great look for no makeup selfies!
- Next, prep your skin with an oil-free moisturiser, which will hydrate the skin and give a bit of slip for the no-makeup makeup you’re going to apply next…
- Now, to balance out skin tone and add a slight bit of coverage, those who are blessed with issue-free skin can apply a tinted moisturiser (try Aveeno’s “Ageless Correcting Tinted Moisturiser SPF 30” (₦ 5,500 here). For anyone who requires a tad more coverage, try a liquid foundation with a dewy finish, as matte foundations give a less ‘real skin’ finish. Tip: Apply your foundation or tinted moisturiser with a sponge, like Real Techniques’ “Miracle Sponge” (₦ 3,200, here jumia.com.ng) in a stippling motion. Pay extra attention to the edges to make sure there are no visible lines. Remember, real skin is never matte so finish by only powdering areas that get oily throughout the day.
- Lastly, be sure to groom brows by brushing them and setting with a gel if necessary. You can also use a clear mascara to add lift to your lashes without giving away you’re cheating the no makeup rule!
