Just when we thought we’d said goodbye to the nude lip look, it appears to be going stronger than ever thanks to the likes of TV personalities Toke Makinwa and Zainab Balogun.
The two beauties shared their nude pics to Instagram, looking chic, stylish, sophisticated …and almost identical, as they both paired their pillowy nude lips with well-groomed brows and black eyeliner.
Zainab shared this selfie, rocking natural-looking lips with a matching nude eyeshadow, plus eyes rimmed along the waterline. Meanwhile, Toke rocked a similar look, but with a thicker liner appliedalong the top lash line.

Created to give the illusion of having a perfectly full, natural pout, the trick is to wear a hue that’s so closely matched to your skin colour, it looks as though you aren’t wearing any lipstick at all – a feat Zainab and Toke seemed to have achieved.

So, how do you embrace the trend like Ms Balogun and Ms Makinwa? Well, it involves a bit of shopping (yay), as there are so many nude lipsticks available in lots of different textures too – and just as with foundation, such lip colours come with a variety of undertones to pay attention to, from pink and orange, to brown and neutral undertones.
Team SPICE find best nudes are those with a sheer finish, which provide a look that’s similar to your natural lips – not shiny and not quite matte.
These tips should get you applying it like a pro.
1. First, use a skin-toned pencil to line just outside of your lip line, which will enhance the fullness of your lips as well as keep the lipstick from ‘seeping’ outside of the lips and to the surrounding skin during wear.
2. Next, using a lipstick in a shade that is barely a shade pinker or browner than your natural lips (anything too peach-y or pale may leave you looking washed out), coat the lips once and then blot with tissue. Add a final layer of lipstick to build up the depth of the shade, then blot again to remove any excess colour.

3. Finish with gloss or a balm, or leave matt – the choice is yours. Though we do suggest lining the eyes with a black kohl liner like Zainab and Toke, to achieve their day-to-night style.
