18-year-old Disney star-turned style icon, Zendaya Coleman was spotted on her way to ABC‘s studios in New York this week, for an appearance on the Good Morning America show – and while we at SPICE loved her outfit (a Spring-ready, checked shirt dress worn with white, pointy stilettos), it was the perfect ballerina bun that stopped us in our tracks and left her top of our list for Beauty Spot of the Week.
The girl’s hair game was clearly on fleek that morning, looking smoothly coiffed for her TV interview. And, with the ballerina bun being one of the best hairstyles for those days when you need to look put-together without much time to do so, Ms Coleman has inspired us to nail the look ourselves.
Get the Look
Want to try this look out too? Don’t be put off by the impressive finish, as really there’s not much to achieving it – in fact, we’ve mapped out 4 easy steps to help you conquer the style, using just bobby pins, elastic bands, hair prep spray and hair spray;
1. First, spritz your hair with a prep spray – a product that tames unruly tresses and makes them a little more manageable. We like Aveda’s “Pure Abundance Style-Prep” ($24, here) which will also give a little necessary volume and thickness to help the hair hold your finished style.
2. Next, gather and tie all your hair back into a high ponytail, using an elastic band. You can use any as you won’t see the band after the final stages of your styling. Also, so brush the free strands of your ponytail so that they’re smooth, tangle-free and ready for the next step.
3. Now, with one hand, grab the base of the ponytail, just below the elastic; use your free hand to wrap the end of your ponytail around the elastic, making a loose loop around the base that covers the elastic band.
4. Lastly, fold the loose ends of the tail around the bun and secure al the hair together with bobby pins. Finish by misting the hair with a setting product or hairspray – we like Aveda’s “Air Control Hair Spray” ($26, here), and you’re done.
