Mother of all blogsites in Nigeria, Uche Pedro – who founded her site in 2006 – has been awarded with the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award for her blog, BellaNaija.
The online entrepreneur was awarded last night at the Los Angeles event, where top stars including Adele and Zendaya Coleman also took home awards (‘Favourite Song of the Year’ and ‘Favourite Female TV Star’ respectively) – Ms Pedro winning the ‘Best African Blogger’ award.
The CEO said while collecting her award;
“Wow! This is such an amazing moment for me and the BellaNaija brand.
Thank you to my husband Bode, our wonderful children and our families. BellaNaijarians and BellaNaija team – we made it! Thank you for all the votes and positive vibes.
Thanks Nickelodeon for the opportunity and to my fellow nominees, you are an inspiration! To everyone out there with a dream, this is a testimony to never give up, be a rebel with a purpose and vision.”
Other nominees for the award included Kenya’s Silvia Kamau Njoki, and South Africa’s Theodora Lee (for her self-titled vlog and blogsite) and Aisha Baker of popular platform Baked the Blog.
While the BellaNaija team posted their thanks and congrats on the site in question, Uche’s husband Bode took to Instagram to make his proud announcement, captioning this pic;
“We did it. Thank God for his blessings.”
