Parisian fashion label, ElevenParis may well be having a bad end to the year 2015, with top names Rihanna, Beyonce, Jay Z, Kanye West and Pharrell Williams having filed a joint lawsuit against them, and winning with an out of court settlement.
The mega group have united against the sportswear label after alleging that the brand had used their names and likeness without their permission – the offending garments including tshirts and phone cases clad with their image, and slogans like “Kanye is my Homie” and “Pharrell is my Brotha”.
The five super stars had filed around 60 violations against the label, seeking an end of manufacturing of the items, as well as an unspecified amount in damages that covered both legal fees for the suit and any profits made from the items ElevenParis sold.READ MORE: SEE SOLANGE STAR IN ELEVENPARIS’ S/S’15 CAMPAIGN!
The brand, who sell tees, sweatshirts and phone cases amongst other things, had previously been fronted by Beyonce’s sister, Solange Knowles as well as Kanye’s sister-in-law, Kylie Jenner – two working relationships that don’t appear to have turned sour.
Now that the celebrity party has won their battle with the brand, settling out of court, we now know why we didn’t unwrap any of their cute (though illegally produced) tees this Christmas… But congrats to Beyonce, Jay Z, Rihanna, Pharrell and Kanye for their win, and good luck to ElevenParis in their future endeavours.
