Beyonce’s MUA, Sir John Explains the Inspiration Behind Her Met Gala Beauty Look

While the World and his wife have been busy marvelling at Beyonce’s body, following Monday night’s sheer extravaganza of a dress, we at SPICE have also been appreciating her beauty look – so it’s pretty great that her makeup artist, Sir John has revealed how he put it together.

Telling The Hollywood Reporter what inspired the look, which consisted of soft-looking, bronzed skin, a “severe” cat eye flick and pink lips, Sir John revealed;

“I was inspired when I saw [her] with all of her hair off her face. It automatically gave her an awakened child-like look that I wanted to enhance with a bit of an anime vibe.”

Anime? We admit we might’ve missed that, on account of the amount of skin on show, but celebrity L’Oreal Paris artist, Sir John explained to Style.com and the Hollywood Reporter;

“Asia is so youth-obsessed with their skincare that we wanted to give a nod to that.”

“I also wanted to play up her makeup since her Givenchy gown was long, sheer and covered in jewels…”

For the night, Sir John, who regularly has Bey’s face beat, started by laminating Bey’s complexion with a combination of mattifying L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation ($12.99 here) – because Queen Bey’s T-Zone gets oily, apparently – as well as L’Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator in “Golden” and the same product in “Rose” for the cheeks ($10.36, here).

For Beyonce’s “deer in headlights” eyes, Sir John used L’Oreal Paris Infallible Eye Shadow in “Endless Sea” and “Infinite Sky” (both $6.39, here) as well as L’Oreal Paris The Super Slim Liner by Infallible ($7.16 here) for the neat lash line flick, leaving the bottom lash line clean to widen the eyes, saying;

“We used liner only on the top, which makes you look fresh.”

There was also “tons” of L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara (just $6.39 here).
