Stylist Marni Senofonte has been in the industry for 20 years, and has worked with everyone from Mary J Blige, to Kim Kardashian and Ms Lauryn Hill – but being co-responsible for Beyonce’s wardrobe since 2007, she’s made waves with looks for videos like “7/11”, “Feeling Myself” and the recent visual album Lemonade.
Speaking to W Mag, the creative – known for her love of layering and a flamboyant Instagram feed – boasted that while there were “so many!” favourite looks from the album, one of her;
“…Favourite group shots was from “6 Inch.” It was such a fresh version of modern Victorian/antebellum.”
That Victorian vibe has been key to Beyonce’s recent sartorial statements, with Senofonte saying that while she didn’t have a direct hand in styling Bey for the Met Gala red carpet’
“…It was nice to see that Riccardo kinda kept in “Formation” by keeping in the same world that I have created for this project. [The ensemble] a Victorian/antebellum feel to it.”
Marni explained that Beyonce’s wardrobe has evolved in other ways to, telling W;
“Since Bey’s “7/11″ video, she has become more and more relatable. When I did the “Feeling Myself” video with her and Nicki [Minaj], we really got a taste of Bey as just one of us. Or if not one of us, at least only an arm’s length away.
Letting some of the imperfections come through seemed rather perfect!”
