As we first reported here, supermodel and fashion’s bad girl, Binx Walton has teamed up with sneaker brand Superga to launch a new line, and as well as unveiling the collection today in Milan, the model as revealed the range is about more than just cool kicks.
Speaking to Vogue of the lineup with the brand, for which she also stars as the face to front it, Binx explained;
“In this industry, we’re showing kids who to be. Being models, we’re kind of planting things in kids’ heads that aren’t the best; wear make-up, stay skinny – and even though it’s a job, and we’re not trying to ruin these kids’ lives, it does have an effect.
I want to do something real once I finish modelling. I want to work with people who inspire me, not people who are caught up with this whole current air of social media bullshit.”
For the trainer collection, which sees Superga’s classic shapes tweaked to represent the model via small detail adjustments, Ms Walton also worked hard on the campaign and;
“…Had a significant say in casting, hair, make-up, stylist, the models, locations. Some of the people we hired just didn’t come through the way we thought they would, so I ended up getting involved in a much bigger way. But that’s the same with any creative process; if you don’t do it yourself or at least look over it, then you’re not really in control.
I did think about just hiring my friends, but it’s my first project so I really didn’t want to rely on my friends who are doing well. I just wanted it to be about my shoes.”
