While we begin October thinking all things ‘Warrior,’ top designer Alexander Wang enlists pop culture’s most influential ones to star in his campaign for Dosomething.org – a charity that supports youth and social change,
Also marking his 10th anniversary in the industry, Mr Wang has launched a charity t-shirt and hoodie line that will see 50% of the retail price going to the not-for-profit, with the range’s campaign starring the well known faces of Kanye West, Taraji P. Henson, Joan Smalls, The Weekend and more.
A total of 38 portraits were lensed by famed photographer Steve Klein, with Wang having chosen each personality based on who he believes to be the most influential to youth, saying in an interview with Yahoo Style;
“We felt like, let’s do a campaign and bring together people that we really respect or who have been a big part of our brand, who helped support us, who’ve given us support, been supporting us all these years.
And from all different kinds of fields – music, modeling, acting, comedy, etcetera – to just bring as much awareness to this organisation. So that was really important.”
The black and white images see the many familiar faces wearing (or in Cara Delevingne’s case, draping over her naked body) the t-shirts and hoodies, which will be available to buy from Alexander Wang’s stores worldwide online here.
Team SPICE love the Alexander Wang x DoSomething.org campaign shots, including Kate Moss,’ A$ap Rocky’s and Kim Kardashian’s, but mostly we appreciate the designer’s contribution to young people and social change, and will look forward to more of this type of initiative from the fashion industry as a whole.
