Joining forces with a host of popular names, the current Miss Nigeria, Ezinne Akudo has just launched a viral, weekly campaign against sexual violence, titled “Break the Silence.”
Impactful and created via Ms Akudo’s NGO, The Eight Foundation, the campaign aims to encourage survivors of abuse and supporters of the cause to speak out against domestic crime like rape, despite the current stigma surrounding such events within Nigerian society.
For the campaign, a long list of stars including TV personality Dolapo Oni and celeb stylist Swanky Jerry have been captured in a poignant still images, where they appear with their mouths gagged while holding a sign showing words of their support.
The images will be released weekly for a month, revealing more celebrities backing the cause, while The Eight Organization has also committed its staff and resources to protect rape victims legally, and also to help rehabilitate them using their experienced counsellors.
