As we at SPICE are thinking all things ‘celebration’ this month, designer Roberto Cavalli’s been busy celebrating the female form in his signature extravagant, bold way – this time, tapping rapper Nicki Minaj to front the campaign for his Spring/Summer’15 collection.
Spied in the brand’s new range of dresses, bags and shades, the fiercely known and fiercer-bodied Nicki is shot by Francesco Carrozzini for the campaign, upping her fashion credentials even further, following a year on the cover of mags like Elle and V Magazine. And, explaining that his choice of model comes along with a choice to really show off womens’ bodies, Cavalli said;
“I chose Nicki Minaj because she embodies the exuberant and modern femininity of the Cavalli woman. In recent years we have become accustomed to women castigated in clothes that hide their body shapes. With this campaign, I wanted to send a strong counter-trend message. I wanted a sensual woman who is aware of her body, who is not afraid to show her curves but rather make them her strength.”
