Top Tanzanian label, Chichia London is teaming up with East London-based Nigerian talent, Yinka Ilori for an amazing exhibition titled “Home Affairs.”
Created with PR pro and fashion consultant, Arieta Mujay, the exhibit will see a highly visual, conceptual space made up of 4 living rooms, livened by illustrations, curated film, archival footage and spoken word performances, with Chichia’s Christine Mhando bringing her signature East African vibes and Yinka Ilori displaying his West African-infused chair designs.
Speaking of the upcoming event, presented by NOW Gallery, a statement said the event would reflect;
“…Language of traditional Nigeria and Swahili parables… thought-provoking furniture, indigenous plants, designed objects, garments and wallpapers inspired by bespoke Khanga textiles, with visitors encouraged to navigate and explore.”
With Mr Ilori being a star specialist in up-cycling furniture with traditional stories, and Chichia continuing to impress us with its brand of cool, colourful creations that even hang in Beyonce’s wardrobe, we at SPICE will be looking forward to checking out this collaboration.
