The couple, who announced with news of their pregnancy, that they’d struggled to conceive naturally, were able to choose an embryo during the IVF process, which isn’t strictly unusual for couples going through the treatment in the US.

The mother-to-be had told People;
“I made the decision. Not only am I having a girl, but I picked the girl from the little embryo. I picked her and was like, ‘Let’s put in the girl.’
I think I was most excited and allured by the fact that John would be the best father to a little girl. That excited me; the thought of seeing him with a little girl. I think he deserves that bond.

But John definitely is very lucky to have a little girl. And this girl is going to be so completely lucky to have John as her papa – it’s crazy!

In reaction to the news, one Twitter user asked the swimsuit model;

Chrissy joked back;

Another user wrote;

After a barrage of Tweets, the controversy lead Chrissy to make a more official response , Tweeting;

“This is all so interesting. I said it so casually because I’m just open. I’m around so many open-minded people and forgot it’s controversial.
From reading everything tonight, I think I made a mistake in thinking people understood the process better than they do, which is my fault.
We didn’t create a little girl. We had multiple embryos; girls and boys. We simply chose to put in a female first and second. We didn’t ‘throw away’ anything and still would love to have more of both in the future.
Anyhow, I am not mad at anyone’s beliefs but I don’t really actively seek out people to make them feel bad about their decisions either.”
While we enter March thinking about all things ‘Mother‘, we’re keen to know what you think to story. Do you feel happy for the couple and their decision to choose the sex of their baby?
