Steal Her Style: Music Meets Runway Africa 2014
As the festive season comes to climax, Nigeria has been celebrating the way we know best, hosting a number of fashion-inspiring, celebrity-filled events to keep us all entertained.
One of the year’s biggest events has been the just-concluded 2014 Music Meets Runway show, which we at SPICE covered in full, keeping our eye on the best dressed.
For #CurvesdayThursday though, we’re gifting you with ways to recreate two of our favourite looks – and just in time for New Year’s Eve, too!
First up, Toke Makinwa was definitely one of our best-dressed in her custom-made number. Although you’d have to head to South Africa to get your own made, Forever Unique’s strapless lookalike would still wow on any red carpet. Just pair yours with great Louboutin-esque pumps and you’ll be channelling Toke’s glamourous look like a pro.
And secondly, Seyi Shay’s look shimmied its way onto our list of favourite looks from the event, with her Ejiro Amos Tafiri dress giving us retro vibes with a modern twist. Our pick of Topshop Unique’s sequinned body con gown matches Ms Shay’s cool attire, and layered with a golden jacket and matching Steve Madden strapless pumps, you’ll steal the show wherever you’re headed for the night, too!

Curvy TBT: Marquita Pring for Ford+’s January’11 Editorial
As the year comes to a close, we thought we’d bring some ‘New Year, New Me’ inspiration in the form of this fierce Curvy TBT from one of our faves, Marquita Pring.
Shot as a promotional editorial in January 2011 to showcase her partnership with agency Ford Models’ plus size division, Ford+, Marquita owns her look and is seen in a series of evocative poses.
One of our favourite quotes from the year is from Ms Pring, too, with the model’s philosophy on life being short and sweet;
“Be happy, be healthy, most of all be confident and be a positive role model for young women.”
