CurvesdayThursday: Marina Rinaldi’s Plus Size Luxury-wear, a Curvy TBT & Something to Soak Up the Sun in…

This week, we’re tbt-ing to a cool, curvy shoot, talking curvy luxury-wear and tops to soak up the sun in…

Marina Rinaldi Open Flagship in London

Although the plus size industry has taken huge strides when it comes to fashion, with more and more retailers launching plus size ranges or extending the sizes for their collection, one element that has been conspicuously absent is luxury-wear designed for fuller figures. So, with glee, we at SPICE are happy to report on the recent launch of the Marina Rinaldi Atelier flagship store in London, which is fully stocked with luxurious garments intended to flatter curvier frames.

The Italian brand, part of the Max Mara fashion group (think Herve Leger and BCBG), focuses primarily celebrating the fuller female form with great-fitting, fashion-forward clothes – all designed to proudly hug curves, from sizes 14-28. The brand’s great new space is a very spacious, modern townhouse, which allows customers to shop in style, and once you’ve gotten past the sheer beauty of the store’s decor, the range available will blow you away.

Stock includes a unique “Albemarle” collection created specifically for (and only available inside) the store, and with prices starting from just £70 for clothing, shoes and accessories, a trip to the store seems necessary!

Marina Rinaldi’s motto is ‘Women are Back’ – and judging by this gem of a store, and the look of its stock, we at SPICE think women will most certainly be back (again and again) upon first visit. See a little of the store’s offering, below;

Curvy TBT: Saffi Karina for Hunger Magazine

Continuing with our celebration of all things Summer, this week’s Curvy TBT comes in the form of Saffi Karina modelling some pretty gorgeous wears for a recent Hunger Magazine editorial.

The spread, shot this past January, was a collaboration between photographer Rachell Smith and celebrity stylist Natalie Read, who were inspired by 90s supermodels and featured Spring/Summer’14 looks from Vivienne Westwood, Missoni and Ralph Lauren.

Of course, Saffi steals the show and – as a former straight-size model who was dropped from her agency six years ago after her body changed and her hips grew – knows a thing of two about looking good, regardless of your size, telling the mag;

“As you grow older, you become more womanly and I actually didn’t want to change that, so I started looking for what else was out there. I began working as a plus-size model and it is a very positive and happy industry.

I still got to do what I loved and travel the world… I want to strive to endorse a positive body image and act as a role model to young women who previously thought ‘thin’ was the only way to get a foot over the fashion threshold.”

We love Karina’s confidence and each look in this editorial; definitely some cool CurvesdayThursday inspiration! See it, below;
