This week, we’re talking TBTs, a two-toned, Ghana-made must-have plus the Sports Luxe trend – all curated to your curves’ satisfaction. Jump into it, below;
Curves Vs… Sports Luxe
Keeping in line with the 2014 World Cup – which kicks off today in Brazil – and our celebration this month of all things sporty, we’re setting curves against the sports luxe trend that’s reigning for Spring/Summer’14.
With its fluid, sophisticated way of updating of day-to-day wear, the look is super covetable amongst stylistas, though it can be tricky for women with curves to master – especially if what comes to mind is shapeless, slouchy fits and horrible, drab hoodies (a total style no-no, as our How To Wear presenter Mercedes would agree!).
The thing to think here is ‘unconventional comfort’, and with vast opportunities to layer, mix textures and prints as well as rock anything from cool ‘look at me’ trainers to ‘work ‘em’ heels, this is definitely a trend for all tastes, shapes and sizes.

Curvy TBT: Plus Model Magazine’s March’14 “Social Media” Shoot
This week’s Curvy Throwback Thursday (also known as a TBT, in case you aren’t one to roam Twitter or Instagram) is the perfect example of the power of social media and technology.
What do you get when you add Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and an iPhone? This creative editorial featured in Plus Model Magazine’s March’14 Social Media issue, which we at SPICE think is super cool.
With model Halle Stanley at the helm, Plus Magazine took on and successfully pulled off an amazing feat that not only stamped its way into plus size fashion history, but also made us feel a little bit better about taking countless selfless…
Editor-in-chief, Madeline Jones said of the shoot;
“The focus of this issue is to show just how social media has changed the plus size industry. We wanted to push the limits of the iPhone and our creativity by capturing an entire fashion editorial, using this medium.”
How’s that for innovation!?
See the cool shoots below (captured by Andre Schneider and styled by Reah Norman), but if you do take a fabulous shot of oneself on Twitter or Instagram, do hashtag it with #CurvesdayThursday and @SPICETVAFRICA, as who knows, you may just make it into our next #CurvesdayThursday column!
