This week, we’re talking Toolz, TBTs and carnival ready Iro and Buba… Take a look;
Curvy Style Steal: Toolz Oniru
When you mention the name Tolu ‘Toolz’ Oniru, three words come to mind; cool, creative and curves.
The popular Nigerian on-air personality hosts her own radio show on Beat FM and is also the host of The Juice and X Factor Nigeria, amongst countless other ventures – not to exclude talk of the many magazine covers she’s graced, giving us a glimpse into her enviable wardrobe.
Here at SPICE, we love the bright hues and use of embellishment that Toolz is known to rock, whether it’s a custom made piece or something off the shelf – and, lucky for you, this week we’re all about helping you steal her style;
Curvy TBT: Philomena Kwao for Cosmopolitan Magazine
Another #CurvesdayThursday edition, another fabulous #TBT for our lovely readers and this shoot from 2012 is a good’un. Taken when now 24-year-old Economics graduate Philomena Kwao was crowned winner of a plus-size model competition by Evans and Style369.com, “The Body is Back” editorial featured in the May’12 issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine, showcasing Philomena’s crazily covetable body after she was snapped up by infamous modelling agency, Models1.
Dubbed by the Daily Mail as ‘Britain’s first black plus-size supermodel’, we love Philomena’s motivation behind entering the competition and becoming a plus-size spokesperson. The stunner said at the time;
“I hope to use this as a platform by which I can hopefully empower girls and young women like myself… to be a figurehead for young girls today who sometimes may become disillusioned by ‘the glamorous lifestyle’. I want to show them that you can really do it all if you try; that is to pursue your dreams, whatever they maybe, and get an education.
I want to spread the message that there is beauty in everything: every shape, colour, size, and height … whatever. We are all beautiful.”
Agreed! See her shots for Cosmo, below;
