Now that Summer is in full swing, a perfect Spring/Summer trend to get into is the sheer look. From airy organza to feminine lace and see-through, cut-out panelling, the playful game of reveal and conceal allows one share glimpses of the skin in subtle, chic ways, as well as an easy transition from ladylike to sultry. Another clear advantage of rocking this trend is the breathable fabrics used, which mean you can look fabulous all day long without breaking into too much of a sweat!
For curvier figures, it’s important to adopt the mantra ‘less is more’ and choose semi-structured pieces with sheer panelling in unexpected areas. Full Figured Fashion Week, an annual plus size fashion week, recently concluded its fifth year, and – dubbed the Oscars of plus-size women’s fashion – the event brings together an average of 500 models, designers, retailers, bloggers and shoppers from an industry worth £9 billion, annually. No easy feat for anyone to organise! However, this event was the brainchild for founder Gwen Devoe, who covers this month’s Pose Magazine, which is a specialist magazine for the fuller-figured women.
Alongside posing in some pretty powerful outfits, Devoe talks about the inspiration behind starting her event, the growth for the plus size market and how to become your own mogul. To sum up the article in a sentence, Gwen says to all aspiring moguls;
“Don’t wish for it, work for it.”
