#CurvesdayThursday: Top Spring Picks Plus Curves on the Catwalk

This week, we’re talking the best things to buy for spring (and wedding) style, plus news of curves making their way down a bridalwear catwalk…

The Best Big Brand: Little Mistress

Our fave brand this week is a British label, again – but while we promise we’re not bias, we should also mention they deliver worldwide! And why do we love Little Mistress? Because its Curvy range ticks all the boxes (trendy, diverse, flattering) and then some, plus, as winners of Young Fashion Brand of the Year at the 2012 and 2013 Drapers Awards, this fast growing label is on all fashion radars.

Adapting the latest catwalk trends and colour palettes to create quirky and covetable pieces to suit any social butterfly, Little Mistress’s clothes will dazzle at both work meetings and shopping trips, or knock ‘em dead at night – and with wedding season coming faster round the corner than you can say “I do,” these Spring picks are perfect for whoever’s big day you’re attending.

And the clincher? New customers get a tasty 10% off their first order, so go on – get buying!

Curves on the Catwalk

The recently wrapped Bridal Fashion Week New York saw famed British designer, Jenny Packham – a firm favourite of the Duchess of Cambridge – create a moment in curvy history, by opening and closing her show with prominent plus size models, Marquita Pring and Ashley Graham.

Now, these days, it’s not too uncommon for plus-size models to appear somewhere on the runway (especially not when designers are looking to be ‘different’, or create ‘buzz’), but two key elements made Packham’s decision to use these deliciously-framed models unusual: Firstly, there’s  the fact that the designer brought the models out at the most significant points of the show – the beginning and the end, which is regarded as an honour – and secondly, this wasn’t just any fashion show, but a bridal show.

Going against the curve (well, with the curve, but you know what we mean – against the industry’s tall and thin trend) Ms Packham really impressed us at SPICE and empowered curvy girls everywhere, scoring a definite thumbs up for proving that you can be a beautiful bride at any size (and no matter what the industry says). Thanks, Jenny!

Curvy Pick of the Week: Tribal Grove’s High Waisted Ankara Skirt

Etsy, Etsy, Esty – how you are a wonderland! This week’s pick of the week comes from Etsy – the self-proclaimed “vibrant online marketplace,” who – with a website full of brand new and vintage gems from all over the globe – had us thrilled to find this beaut of a skirt from Tribal Groove.

Not only is it under £50, it comes in nine (yes, nine) different prints and goes up to a UK size 24. Plus, with high waisted skirts showing no signs of leaving trend city and with the option of pairing this with a crisp white pussy bow shirt for the day, or a black crop and stilletos for night, we at SPICE can’t wait to be seen rocking it!

Get yours for £42.78, here.
