This week, we’re talking to African designer Jessica Baah about dressing up your curves, spreading the word on finding the face of ASOS’s Curve Range, plus giving you one good way to support or distract your man during the 2014 World Cup…
Curvy Chat: Jessica Baah
Giving SPICE readers some style tips from within the industry is Jessica Baah – designer of the beautiful Baah by Jessica Baah label who has worked with top names like Mizani and celebs like Jocelyn Dumas and the CEO Dancers.
It’s safe to say that Ms Baah knows a thing or two (or even three) about dressing to suit your shape – whether that’s for work or for play – and she divulges some of such knowledge with us, below;
What to wear to work or for a meeting…
I would choose this panelled Joseph dress for work or to impress at a meeting, styled with a high sleek bun to bring out your facial features. A dress like this would be great with mid-height heels, gold accessories and a leather structured bag.
(Joseph long sleeve leather dress, £130 / Nasty Gal black Black velvet pumps £47 / MICHAEL Michael Kors black clutch £53 / Pedro del Hierro ring, £29 / Michael Kors pave crystal jewelry, £79)
For going out…
I would choose this beautiful (and affordable) H&M dress for drinks or dinner with friends. I love to be very glam and this blue hue is perfect colour, plus the draping does enough to hide everything that wants hiding and shows off everything that needs to be shown off. Add some contrast high heels and gold accessories, and you’re ready to go!
(H&M asymmetrical hem dress, £25 / Gucci ankle tie sandals, £360 / Lulu Guinness sparkly purse, £245 /Heart shaped ring, £14/ Miss Selfridge’s triangle stud earrings, £6)

Curvy News: ASOS Teams Up with Models 1 to Find the Next Plus Size Model Via Social Media
Drumroll please! The famous Models 1 modelling agency and online retailers ASOS have teamed up for #MAKEMEACURVEMODEL – a UK-wide search to find a new face for the ASOS Curve range. How exciting!
Last year’s winner was Simone Charles – a beautiful size 18 student from London who was signed to Models 1 and went on to grace the cover of plus-size fashion magazine, SLiNK as well as front as the face and body of luxury denim line, Beauty in Curves.
With the venture proving great progression in promoting plus size fashion and shapes of all sizes, entry is pretty simple, too; one can enter by either uploading your photo onto Instagram, with the tags #MAKEMEACURVEMODEL and either @Asos or @Models1curve, or by emailing a shot over to makemeacurvemodel@models1.co.uk.
With entry set to close on June 9th hopefuls had best be quick! All competition terms & conditions can be found, here.
Curvy Pick of the Week: A Cool Customisable World Cup Vest & Shorts by Adidas Originals
As we all know, the 2014 World Cup kicks off next week in Brazil, which means most males on the Earth will be glued to their nearest TV screen. But, giving them good reason to turn their heads for even a moment, is our Curvy Pick of the Week – a sexy sports-themed number including these cool shorts by Adidas Originals.
This printed pair of shorts and customised vest looks great whether you’re supporting your man’s passion (the vest is customisable so you can rock your own team’s colours) or if trying to distract him from the game is your tactic, plus it’s super cute for the gym if you’d rather get your fill of exercise that way.
Cop yours, (£17.50 for the vest, and £25 for the shorts) here and here.
