DIY- Eye Bag Remedies

Eye bags are one of the most dreaded things that can happen to anyone. Just the idea of them being under your eyes can be tiring, this unwanted eye feature can ruin your look and even your day. But worry not, cause we got you covered. Here are 5 DIY remedies to control eye bags

  1. Potatoes


Potatoes contain anti-inflammatory particles that help prevent and reduce puffiness under the eyes.


  • Take two whole potatoes, peel and grate it neatly by using the medium side of a grater
  • Take a light clean piece of cloth, and place potatoe shavings in each of them
  • Knot the piece of cloth and place one cloth on each eye
  • Allow to rest for about 15-20 minutes
  • Rinse off with cold water
  • And pat face dry with a clean towel.
  1. Cucumber

Slice your cucumber in circular shapes and place in a fridge, allow the cucumber to get cold, then place one slice over each eye. When they get warm, take out another set and repeat the process all over again. This process can be repeated for not more than half an hour.

  1. Cool tea bags

Place two tea bags in a cup of  very cold water, take cold tea bags out of water then squeeze out excess water, place cold tea bags over your closed eyes until the tea bags get warm, return tea bag in cup of cold water and repeat the process again about three to four times.  The most suitable type of tea to use for this procedure is green tea or black tea.

  • The anti-irritant in herbal tea helps reduce redness and inflammation.
  • While the caffeine helps reduce swelling.
  1. Stiff Egg Whites

Egg whites contains Albumin which is the most common protein found in the blood, Albumin is used for cell regeneration, growth and repair. Egg white is also perfect for lifting and tightening the loose skin under eye area caused by eye bags.


  • Separate egg white from the bowl in a bowl.
  • Whisk egg white until it becomes stiff.
  • Use a clean makeup brush to apply the egg white under your eyes
  • Leave for about 20-30 minutes
  • Rinse off with cold water
  • Pat face dry with a clean towel.


  1. Spoon remedy

Spoon remedy is one of the most recommended DIY eye bag treatment recipes. This remedy may seem ridiculous but then again they work, so why not try it out and show those eye bags who is boss.


  • Place about 4-6 clean spoons in a freezer for about 15-20 minutes.
  • Lay down, and place one cold spoon over closed eye until the spoon gets warm
  • Repeat the process with the other cold spoons.
