Exploring her persistent theme of masculinity, designer Grace Bonner teams up with top stylist Julia Sarr-Jamois and photographer Harley Weir to shoot her Autun/Winter’15 collection in Senegal, capturing the country’s Lebou culture and its tradition of wrestling.
While we at SPICE are thinking all things ‘Man’ this month on the site, snapping models Assane Ba, Cheikouna Mb Fall, El Hadji Samb, Amady Gagna Mar, Saliou Youm, Mamadou Diagne and Karim Ndiaye wrestling in the blush-coloured water of Lake Retba (aka Lac Rose), and posing around the Dakar, the designer captures the beauty of masculinity and her garments, leaving us completely inspired.
In the accompanying video, shot for i.D Magazine and entitled “Meet the Wrestlers”, we learn a little about Lebou wrestling and the traditions it holds.
See the rest of the images here below and tell us in the comments box what you think to Grace Bonner’s collaboration with Julia Sarr-Jamois and Harley Weir, and their fashion editorial featuring the Lebou men of Senegal.
