Beautiful Kenyan actress, Lupita Nyong’o has been tapped to front Harper’s Bazaar‘s May’15 issue, and is seen rocking the cover with gorgeous, glowing skin and starring in a short behind-the-scenes video.
Wearing garments including Louis Vuitton and Jimmy Choo, as well as Lancome makeup (naturally, being that she is the brand’s current face), Lupita is seen styled by Miranda Almond for the editorial shoot, lensed by Alexi Lubormirski.
The first ever black woman to win an Oscar, who has ever since become one of fashion’s (and SPICE‘s) favourite style icons, also talks to the magazine in an accompanying interview, revealing of her ability to throw shapes;
‘There was a time when I was afraid to dance. My older sister would dance with abandon. She would do it to entertain. I was so mortified at the thought of wiggling my body in any direction. And I wrestled with myself, because I didn’t want to be so self-conscious.
I wanted to be able to enjoy music and not care that I looked cute. I don’t know when something switched in my head, but I’m so glad it did, because I feel like dancing, and being able to enjoy one’s body for oneself is such a precious, precious thing.
…If this [fame] had happened to me at a time when I couldn’t dance – ha – my God, I think I would be way more of a wreck.”
In the behind-the-scenes video (which you can see here), Lupita talks style and beauty, saying;
“Fashion for me is an extra curricular activity. I enjoy the exposure I’ve had to it and it’s always fun to dress up and it’s been fun to have so many things to dress up for.”
I think makeup can be very informative. When it comes to getting into character, for a film or for a photoshoot, it tells you a little bit about the spirit one is going for, what you’re supposed to be exuding.”
We at SPICE love the Lupita’s spirit, the shoot and the way that Ms Nyong’o continues to stun with her beauty, which you can see captured in the rest of the shots from Harper’s Bazaar‘s May’15 issue and cover, below;
